The ‘wok hei’ in chinese cuisine that got me hooked to chinese food. It is so flavourful and there’s no restriction as to when you can have it. You can have chinese food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The best way to start one’s day is dim sum! Perfecto for family/friends get together - Yumcha!
Chinese food is exciting and amazing because of its simplicity in style and richness in taste. There is no limit in Chinese cuisine and new styles and ways is created every time. The best of all is still the humble ‘dim sum’, simple yet rich and amazing each time you eat it.
Chinese cuisines give me exotic tastes, mysterious spices, from far away places at affordable prices. With crackers, marinades, sesame oils, sauces, simply great for all the courses. Be it stir fried, or deep fried; once fried, never forgotten.
From the wok to the plate, scrumptious oriental flavours make my meal complete. Local ingredients and dishes leave my palate pleased, leaving hard to satisfy tummy filled.
The sounds of “Cantonese Fried Rice”, “Hainanese Chicken Rice” or “Hokkien Mee” sure make stomach growling and mouth watering; enough talking and let the chopsticks do the working.
I love the smell, taste and color of chinese foods. The after taste is the best ever and incompatible. I will always love it and have no specific reason for loving it. I know that i love it so much and that’s all that matters.
My parents always had a love for Chinese food and i grew up with the weekly ritual at the Chinese restaurant near our house. From the zesty Schezuan soup and the succulent Kung Pao chicken, to the endless variety of Dim Sum, i can’t help but love the amazing taste of Chinese delicacies!
There’s nothing like some flavorful and diverse Chinese food! While i may not be a Chinese, for many years i have been exposed to the wonderful world of Chinese delicacies. Whether i’m in the mood for some Sweet and Sour chicken, the simple yet scrumptious Chicken Rice or some two-thumbs up dumplings, i know i can always find myself at restaurants offering me a little zest of Chinese food!
Living in a multi-racial country, i have been blessed with the amazing variety of food. I am a true Chinese food fan! You can find me with my camera in hand, as i venture into the many restaurants and food stalls that offer a variety of Chinese cuisines! The tantalizing Peking Duck with its crispy skin and tender and juicy meat to the simple stir-fried baby kailan with garlic, I am the ultimate Chinese food fan!
I was introduced to the taste of Chinese food from a very young age and i immediately fell in love! Who would have predicted that i would eventually marry into that culture and so i get to tease my palate on a daily basis with the different tastes of Chinese cuisine! My absolute has to be Dim Sum followed by my mother-in-law’s amazing Teo Chew style steam fish. I am now officially a Chinese food junkie!
I grew up as a typical Malay..rarely had the chance or even the interest to taste the Chinese food (yet I was always curios about how it tastes)…until my university years when a ’special’ friend of mine(he is a Chinese) introduced me to variety of Chinese food..I still remember the night I had dinner with him (about 10 years back) and he ordered for me this -what we called as”Ginger Beef Kue Teaw”..that was the first time I had Chinese food in my life..and that moment is unforgertabble, as I fell in love with Chinese food starting from that night!! and until todayI keep on tasting and enjoying almost all kinds of tasty Chinese cuisine, in full delight!!
Chinese foods use all 5 tastes (sweet, sour, salty, bitter and urmani) to bring out the best out of the food. I love Chinese cuisine since I appreciate food and my mum told me that since I was young I have a special liking for “char siew” (BBQ Pork). Even now, I loves “char siew” because it is easily available and despite the meat gone under high temperature during cooking process, the meat remain juicy and coupled with sweet sauce and red power, it makes the dish so delicious. I love “char siew” and it has embrace in my name.
Chinese recipe from roadside or mum’s homemade; just the sound alone reminds me of home. Scrumptious meals suitable for breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner or supper; just simple DIM SUM dishes and YUM CHA bring family closer together. Food from the heart, enough reason for you and me to start.
The method that the chef used to cook the food, the ingredients that the chef used to make the food even more tasty and delicious and the cleanliness of the chef and kitchen. All these have make me fall in love with Chinese Food. Whenever I travel abroad, I will to go China town to search for Chinese cuisine. Besides, the food that cook using charcoal will makes the food taste even more delicious. Conclusions, Chinese cuisine are the only cuisine that suits me…
My favourite dish is Shanghai “Siew Long Pau”. I fall in love with “Siew Long Pau’ after the first try.
Begin with a bite at the 18 pleats, then suck out the soup. By swallowing the soup, the appetite is increase. The just nice thickness of the skin & the juicy filling of “Siew Long Pau” really bring best satisfaction.
I first fell in love with Chinese cuisine at the taste of my Ah Ma’s (grandmother) Cantonese cooking, for its unpretentious style and all-natural tastes. Then my love grew deeper and wider after I came out to try various style of Chinese cooking from Malaysia to Hong Kong, and I never looked elsewhere since. If I ever need a simple home cook fare or a fast and tasty fare outside or even an elaborate dining affair, Chinese food is without the doubt the best choice for ultimate satisfaction.
Chinese cuisines and delicacies have their own unique and distinctive taste that simply sizzles our taste buds. Sweet and sour, fried, stew, roasted or soup, the respective dishes are always made with perfection for my satisfaction. My favorite is surely the fresh$ shark’s fin soup and succulent dim sum.
I surely wouldn’t mind a serving of a plate of sizzling fried rice too! Many Chinese restaurants now cater for the multiracial communities in Malaysia that brings everyone close at heart to enjoy a variety of quality cuisines every day with pleasure.
It’s simply “ho chiak” to me!
I love Chinese cuisine chefs for their ingenuity, from naming dishes to exploring new flavours. Sometimes they even get creative with restaurant names like the Sek Hou (Eat good food) Restaurant in Berjaya Times Square.
One of my absolute favourite dish is “kim sa har” (Golden Sand Prawn). It’s whole prawns fried together with crushed Marie bicuits.
I’m an ardent lover of Chinese food because it’s such an adventure to tuck into the very bold and varied flavours of chinese cooking.

Anywhere, anytime, there is always a place to sit and dine – from bistro to fast food outlets and al-fresco to food courts, or just affordable roadside to simple homemade, there is something for everyone, to suit for any mood every time.
Some delicacies come with a long history; its recipes handed down from generation to generation. Malaysians come together for food teaser, thus this gesture is one nation pleaser. The taste is the test, Chinese Food the best.
For me, each delectable morsel that titillates my tastebuds sends them on a journey of discovery spanning vast geographical expanse, across time and memorial bringing traditional wisdom of past millennia together with modern day fusion creativity. Each subtle flavour, harmonious pairing of taste and diversity in cooking styles is solidly built on the principles of Life with emphasis on freshness and balance of Yin and Yang.
Whether cooking simple individual portions full of flavour or an army of chefs preparing majestic Manchurian Han Imperial Feasts lasting for days, the Chinese emphasis on blending individual notes of textures, taste, styles into a harmonious symphony covering earth, sea and air ensuring they touch the heart and warm the soul. Backed by a long history of experimentation and diversity as a result of influx of different influences, the creativity of Chinese chefs in expanding the palates of consumers creates a crescendo of delight while evoking exquisite pleasures. Nostalgic food trips back in time when tradition held sway allows me to also have a glimpse into my ancestral land hence my love for Chinese cuisine.
It’s a timeless solitude,
adapting Chinese cuisine on a higher aptitude,
my po po said I grew up with an attitude,
but it’s all ended up with a joyous magnitude.
A drop of Chinese essence has been running in my blood,
thanks to my po po for her secret recipe that eases my mood, her Hokkien noodle was probably the best in our neighbourhood,
and yeah it was cooked using charcoal or even plain wood.
Dim sum treat always make my day,
Spoilt for choices of the so delightful variety,
Sometime I ate too much and empty the tray,
But one thing for sure, it always brings back my childhood memories until today!
“Lap Cheong” is the first thing pop out from my mind whenever there’s a hint for chinese cuisine! This chinese style of sausage tastes good with any dishes. Simply a fry egg with lap cheong, or even dump them inside the soup is already sufficient to please my appetite! Try them out, and i’ll bet you be as addicted as me!
It is the food into which I was born,
Yet till today, it makes up 90% of my consumption that never makes me tastefully forlorn,
Besides being scrumptious, it is the countless variety of delightful dishes that kept me loyal for so long,
Cantonese, Hainanese and Hokkien are my preferred regular cuisines,
Because wanton noodle, chicken rice and prawn noodle are deliciously the real things.
Back to those days when my sisters and I were still rebellious tots,
Gathering around my ‘Ah Ma’ busying herself over her trusty old wok,
Excitedly watching plates after plates of yummy-licious dishes appearing round the clock,
Ah Ma, your Chinese dishes definitely rocked!
Ah Ma’s home-cooked Chinese dishes are all well-prepared with tender, loving care,
Wholesome, healthy and delicious… protests and complaints are often rare,
Stir-fries, steams, soups, stews, roasts…every dish is a simple but unique fare,
Chopsticks click-a-clack; minutes later Ah Ma’s dishes ‘magically’ disappeared from our lovely Chinese wares!
My siblings and I curiously asked ‘Can we learn Chinese cooking from you Ah Ma, if we may?’
She only smiled and replied ‘Don’t worry dears, you will learn someday’
As we grew older; she impart to us her precious recipes, cooking skills, and artful ways,
Now I am proud to say I have mastered Ah Ma’s specialty long-life noodle dish– yaay!
My siblings and i are now all grown up and lead our own separate lives and careers,
The notion of keeping in touch seems to get ever more distant and harder,
But still we strive to keep our family ties as tight as ever,
With regular family gatherings over yum cha, dim sum, lunches or dinners!
Reminiscing about our days gathering around Ah Ma’s old wok evokes so much laughter,
It’s true then that Chinese cooking do represents life itself – sweet, sour, salty and sometimes bitter!
Chinese food definitely keeps our quirky family together,
May Chinese cooking and cuisine lives on forever!
Chinese cuisine simply the world’s finest. I discover the variety of exotic ingredients and dishes that make up Chinese cuisine along with my living lifestyle, especially in my childhood. My favourite Chinese cuisine is “Dim Sum” – “Har Gau” (Steamed shrimp dumplings in translucent wrappers). It simply a delicacy with the determination to strive for tasty feeling.
I simply fell in love with Chinese food. I love the robust flavors and hot spices of the Szechuan, especially Mapo Tofu (“Mapo Doufu”). This spicy, aromatic dish is perfect for cold weather days. Chinese cuisine simply paves the way to a sensational enjoyment with an extraordinary sense of taste.
Simply I grew up eating Chinese food at home. Nothing beats a warming casserole or a dish of stew once winter takes hold. We the Chinese conquered the world through oriental food. “Cha Siu” (Cantonese Roast Pork) simply my favourite Chinese cuisine. Chinese cuisine, the tasty determination can accomplished almost everyone with no sacrifice.
Being a Malaysian of Chinese descent, I have no choice from the beginning but to grow with it. Yet after all these years, I simply have no complaint, as having tasted a wide array of tasty food from all over the world here in Malaysia and abroad, my tastebuds still prefer the Malaysian-styled Chinese food, especially the “nice-to-the-eyes but wait-till-you-taste-it” dim sum. My favourite is the ubiquitous “siew mai”, with fresh shrimps, crab meat and that crab roe topping! Yum-yum!
Was it the sound of cackling heat,
That cooked the skin with magnificent crisp?
Or was it that tingle of the nose,
That spells of tastes too good to withhold?
No it was not sight nor taste nor sound,
but rather the pride of generations abound,
Too hard to be understood when read in books,
But served easily on a platters of Chinese food.
i love chinese food as i grew up eating delicious home-cooked meals by my grandmother, my favourite chinese cuisine has to be Hokkien porky dish and Cantonese soup.
On our first date, Prasad picked me up at work for lunch, which I insisted must be quick. Enthralled by his good looks and conversation and charm, I did not notice until he had parked at a nearby Chinese restaurant. My only experience with Chinese food at that time had been ’stir fried mee hoon” which did not taste very nice. I decided I hated Chinese food.
I thought “I’ll just not eat”. Prasad then ordered some ‘Char Siu Bao, Spring Rolls, Shu Mai Dumplings and a few other dishes. Well, I took a nibble of this and a taste of that and suddenly I was hooked. I ate at least half of everything. Some of our most memorable dates after that were at Chinese resturants. Prasad and I are now married and our son loves Chinese food too. I cook Chinese dishes and my favorite restaurants are still Chinese.”
Chinese delicacies are simply full of flavor and texture that’s simply “Hou Sek”. Distinctive spices and herbs blended together to give the perfect aroma to any dish would simply make me dine anytime and any day. Magnificent masterpieces ranging from the sweet and sour Peking duck to the mouth watering sharks fin soup are made with perfection. I’m a loyal lover of Chinese food because it’s such an honor to savor the spectacular art of Chinese cooking.
Each nibble and bite of a dignified dish can bring family and neighbors closer and is able to bond hearts in the love of a common fantasy, Chinese cooking. No matter where ever you are or whatever you may be doing, Chinese delicacies would always remind you of the good things in life that you shouldn’t miss.
Prejudice aside, my liking for Chinese food is in its creativity of dishes, in perception as well as sensation! I love the vegetarian cuisine, especially the soy-based concoctions where looks and tastes can truly deceive and delight! My favourite dishes are the “fish slice” and “fried prawn” lookalikes which are a mixture of soy and seaweed, and soy and cauliflower respectively.
WHAT MADE ME A CHINESE FOOD FAN? THAT’S SIMPLY THE VARIETY OF TASTE & CHOICE.
WHEN DID I FIRST TAKE A LIKING? HAHA, SIMPLY I AM CHINESE AND I GREW UP EATING THIS WORLD’S FINEST CUISINE…
WHAT I LIKE? SIMPLY THE “HAR GAU SIU MAI” IS MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE!
FOR MYSELF, I ALSO ENJOYED COOKING CANTONESE STYLE FOR MY FAMILY, WITH THE SATISFACTION TO STAY TOGETHER.
CHINESE CUISINE SIMPLY EXTRAORDINARY…
Why I love Chinese food?
Besides the blend of ingenuity and choices to boot,
They are uniquely delicious to satisfy everyone’s mood.
From fried tofu to lok-lok from vendors,
To hotel spread like Toh Yuen’s that is a delight to savour,
My favourites are Char-Siew bun and crispy cruellers!
My all time favorites definitely Dim Sum. Literally meaning “touch the heart” it really won my heart. It come in bite size and looks so cute. Each Dim Sum individually prepared with detail and unique shape. The filling variety so enormous and to name some such as seafood, vegetarian and selection of meat prepared as spicy or sweet, steam or fry. It simply has so many methods to do it. And Dim Sum best to have in communal fashion with family and friends along with good Chinese tea. And I know at Hilton Hotel is among the best place to savor it.
The only Chinese cuisine that appeals to me and my family palate is Szechuan cuisine. Perhaps because as Malay, we favor hot and spicy food and Szechuan cuisine have won us over. The center of attraction is obviously the unique Sichuan peppercorn that gives that spicy kick and tantalizing experience. It goes well with everything. As hot and spicy it can be, Szechuan cuisine always lures me and my family back for more over and over again.
My first encounter with full course Chinese food was years ago during my University Student Hostel Annual Dinner. At first I am a bit hesitate to try it but after assured by friends and the Banquet Manager that it’s HALAL, I gave it a try. The hot and cold appetizer was served and later follows by Sichuan soup simply fabulous. It really opens my taste buds to a new world. The steam fish, roasted chicken, fried rice and dissert absolutely fantastic. It really confirms that Chinese cuisine is among the delicious food on the planet. From there on I always look forward for a wholesome and tantalizing Chinese food experience.
I’ll be the first to admit I was so wrong… You see, I had always thought I was a fan of western food. Even from a young age, I was always looking out for opportunities to enjoy a burger or sandwich. So when I found out that I had to travel to America, I was all smiles. Thinking of all the burgers waiting for me there.. food was definitely NOT going to be a problem!
Thus I was shocked, to say the least, when after wolfing down my “burger” at the famous fast food restaurant, I found I was not satisfied at all. Something seemed to be missing. How could it be? I left the restaurant unsatisfied and made my way back to the hotel. Enticing aromas wafted towards me. I hurried towards the smell and saw a Chinese restaurant full of diners enjoying dim sum.
I sat down quickly and a waiter appeared next to me. Taking a quick look at the menu, I gave him my order and waited. Now Dim Sum means “touch the heart”. It is a loud and happy dining experience shared by families as they “yum cha” and catch up on the latest happenings.
Biting into the tender and juicy “siew mai”, I was instantly transported back to my childhood days. Sweet memories of sitting around the table with my family and trading secrets with my siblings brought tears to my eyes.
Chinese cuisine is an art form of taste, beauty and variety. Yes, Chinese cuisine is my heritage, my cup of tea…why didn’t I realise that earlier?
